Good Data Science

| 30+ years of actionable insights |

The purpose of data science

is not the running of databases and algorithms, but the perfection of human knowledge and decision-making.

It consists of:

  • Asking the right question in the first place
  • Recognizing that sound data are not only numbers, but experiences and beliefs
  • Continually questioning ourselves about why we are conducting a model
  • Appreciating that human intelligence is the source of creativity and meaning
  • Remembering that machine intelligence is no good unless it is explainable and believable
  • Ensuring that smaller businesses have a seat at the table
Simple & Powerful > Complexity

Our Approach

At Veraison, we are passionate about data science that is purposeful, practical, and enhances human intelligence instead of replacing it.

We are committed to ensuring your data and experience are used efficiently and transparently to drive your business decisions. In place of complexity, we pursue simple but powerful tools that and explain them plain language so that your employees will understand — and trust — them.  We are not here to impress you with what we know, but the elegance of our solutions.

Data Science for All

Did you hear the one about the big box store that uses your purchase history to predict whether you are pregnant?  Data science is filled with legends of how large companies use their billions of rows of data into new business opportunities.

Most of us don’t have billions of observations laying around our business.  We may only have a few hundred observations; our data may be messy, limited to survey data, or just personal beliefs.

We’ve been there: for decades we have conducted studies in agriculture, where data are expensive and scarce.

Nonetheless, we found ways to us data science to better understand how our products work and where customer demand for them is greatest.  We just needed to step away the AI fanfare and think for ourselves.

We invite you to join us.

Areas of Expertise

Identifying Business Needs

We take time to learn your business and industry, including how similar enterprises may be using data. We work with you to understand your most pressing decisions, questions, and data you have to work with.

Testing Products

We design and analyze experiments to test everything from physical products to web page design.

Predicting Performance

We help you forecast how and why your product will perform in different markets.

Optimizing Strategies

We show you the best way to optimize inputs to maximize sales while controlling costs.

Communicating Insights

We help you develop compelling product narratives around data summaries and visualizations, to help you sell your insights to others.

Growing Self-Sufficiency

We empower your use of data with down-to-earth training in the data science and, when appropriate, domain knowledge, helping to help you become self-sufficient in explaining your analytics and justifying your decisions.

In our 30 years of field research, data science, and training others, we have dealt with challenges, ambiguity, and occasional stubbornness.

We have endured sun and rain; heat and cold; and challenging datasets.

We have worked with C-suite dreamers and skeptical farmers, and we have won over moody 18-year-olds at 8am in the morning.

We have shown them what is possible and seen our projects to completion.

We’re ready for whatever you throw at us.
